November weddings means it gets dark early in New Orleans, so Matthew and Jennifer planned to do a first look before the ceremony so we could take advantage of the golden afternoon light in the courtyard of The Historic New Orleans Collection, where we had special access. The ornate wrought-iron balconies and railings along with the large shuttered windows are quintessential New Orleans architecture, and made the most amazing backdrop for their wedding portraits.
Following the ceremony at the Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church, the reception took place at the diverse venue, Republic NOLA. Typically known for rock music, this space was transformed into an elegant wedding space boasting classic New Orleans Warehouse District architecture. The cake created by Melissa’s Fine Pastries was a show-stopping centerpiece at the reception, featured on a suspended display accented with votive candles and stunning florals provided by Kim Star Wise.
A special surprise thrilled Jennifer and Matthew during the reception. The original band booked were delayed in travel so Ivan Neville, son of the Neville Brothers founder and a famous New Orleans musician himself, filled in as a favor to them. I mean, yeah! And of course, what New Orleans Wedding would be complete without a send-off with a Second Line Parade and traditional New Orleans Music complete with a brass band.
Congratulations again to Matthew and Jennifer and thank you for letting us be a part of your day!
